Do you really believe? - April 6th, 1998

"Do you believe, that what you believe, is really real?" - Dell Tackett

Do you believe in prayer?  Do believe that when you pray that you are coming before the creator of the universe and that he hears you?  Do you believe that when you are praying His will that it will happen?

If so, how much do you pray?

Do you believe the Bible?  Do you believe that when you read the Bible that you are tapping in to who God was, is and will be?  Do you believe that; "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work." - 2 Timothy 3:16

If so, how much do you study the Bible?

Do you believe in Jesus?  If so do you listen and obey His words?  Is your heart to please Him?  Is He truly Lord of your life?  Or do you still cling to the things of the world?

We can all say; "Yes, I believe!" but we need to ask ourselves.  Do we really?

"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."

What is faith?  Can we have faith in faith?  Is faith something that we can conjured up?  Does faith come by just believing in beleiving? No!

"Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ." - Romans 10:17

If I am praying for a sick brother and the Lord tells me that he WILL be healed then I will act on faith in the word I have heard.  But if I pray for the sick without a direct word from the Lord and they are not healed does it mean I have no faith?  No.  We must first hear the message in order to believe it.  We can't have faith in anything unless we have first heard a word spoken.  We heard the word about Jesus and then we had faith in that word and believed.

We need to reexamine our beliefs on faith.

God give us a burning desire to seek you, your ways and your word.
