Resist Pride - March 12th, 1998

How long will it take for the "church" to humble themselves?  When will "Christians" understand that pride and and following Jesus don't go together?

My dad (Left) and I meeting with 2 church leaders in Germany
Many "ministers" have the belief that because God has anointed them that it means he puts a stamp of approval on their ministry and their lives.  This is simply not the case.  There are many examples we can look at to show that this mentality is false.  I will not list them here.   Let's not forget that God spoke His word through a donkey. (Numbers 22:28)

The Lord moves among His people when and where He chooses.  When people are humbly seeking the Lord, with hearts of repentance, it probably does not matter where they are.  All believers should examine their lives daily regardless of God using them powerfully or not.

“God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” - James 4:6

Although I believe we should all be ministers, I will direct this toward "ministers".  It should not matter what position you hold, weather you are an Apostle, Prophet,  Evangelist, Pastor or Teacher in the biblical or traditional sence.  None of these giftings or positions give licence for pride.  God will resist you just the same.  You are not exempt from His displeasure because you have a title.  You want to know why revival does not come to your church?  Could it be your pride and presumption?  It would be better for a leader to walk away from a move of God then to let pride get in the way of it.  Pride is the total reliance on self.  May we all ask the Lord to eradicate pride from our lives.

Lord do that in me, do it in others so we won't stand in your way.  We must stay humble no matter what.  We must keep Jesus as the focal point.

"if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land." - 2 Chronicles 7:14

That sounds like a recipe for REVIVAL!  Let's all do this together and see with our own eyes the Lord keep His word.

  1. I remember this meeting. What The Lord did there was a challenge to these two leaders. The Lord does things His way not ours. Thank God. PS it will be great to look that young again. Dad
